Dear Parents or Guardians,
I am very happy to be instructing your child in my math classes this year. In order to guarantee your child and all the students in my class the excellent educational climate they deserve, I have developed a classroom expectations policy that I believe will deliver just that.
Classroom Expectations
In order to maintain a good classroom environment the following class rules apply:
1. COME TO CLASS ON TIME PREPARED WITH ALL MATERIALS --paper, pencil, binder, textbook, calculator, etc If you are tardy, you must sign in at the door and I will document the tardies as described in the tardy rules dictate.
2. COME TO ATTENTION AND REMAIN SILENT WHEN THE TEACHER IS GIVING INSTRUCTION OR DIRECTIONS. If you need to sharpen your pencil or go to the restroom, wait until we get to a stopping point, then ask.
3. BE RESPECTFUL OF THE TEACHER AND OTHERS AND THE CLASSROOM MATERIALS
Keep hands and objects to yourself; refrain from loud or rude noises and foul language. Show respect for classroom calculators and return them clean and mark free each period.
4. NO CELL PHONES, IPODS, or other electronic devices should be out on the desks. Electronics should be stored out of sight. Cell phones can be on silent (not vibrate). In my classroom, if it is seen or heard, I will respond. Offenses will be documented for discipline referral and a phone call will be made to parent/guardian when and if necessary.
5. USE CLASS TIME WISELY —Work up until the bell rings!! Most days you can get a good start, and sometimes finish the homework in class and not have to do it at home.
6. DO YOUR OWN WORK. CHEATING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED—This includes allowing someone to copy your paper. Both parties share in the consequences when this occurs.
Should a student choose to break a class rule, one or more of the following consequences may occur:
*VERBAL WARNING AND/OR PRIVATE CONFERENCE WITH STUDENT
* LOSS OF HOMEWORK GRADE POINTS (5 points each day) OR PARTICIPATION POINTS (5 points each day)
* 0 ON TEST OR ASSIGNMENT IF FOUND TO BE CHEATING OR COPYING
*PHONE CALL HOME TO PARENT
*DISCIPLINE REFERRAL TO ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL
